Top Ten Scariest Looking Book Covers

My picks for the Tuesday Top Ten, as invented by The Broke and Bookish. These are some of the scariest book covers I've seen. I only occasionally read straight up horror, so a few of these I've read, but most of these are books I've seen on Amazon or GoodReads and haven't gotten to...yet.

1.GoodReads keeps recommending I read this. I'm pretty sure its just Edgar Allen Poe with a tricked out cover. Poe is a favorite of mine, so I've probably already read this in a different addition. I just love how lyrical his prose is.

2. Amazon recommended this. I'm not sure what its about, but that little girl is creepy...Why are little girls always creepy?

I admit to wanting to read 4 and 5! I've just got to be in the mood for a good scare!

6.  This I read, and this I loved! Monsters living in a school. If you were ever dreaded going to school, this is like validation.


7. I'm a HUGE John Ajvide Lindqvist fan! This book was strange, creepy, and fascinating.

8. I just posted the review for this...and while I wasn't a fan of the story, it certainly has a great cover.

   Happy Sunday! Welcome to my Sunday Post, a weekly blog news meme hosted by  caffeinatedbookreviewer . My blog is on the small side, so I decided I'll only be posting the first Sunday of each month and I hope you'll join me. The month of February has been eventful. I've had some wild weather in my neck of the woods: real feel listed as 11 degrees one day, switching to 60s and endless rain, and then to dry windstorms that brought trees down. I successfully managed not to freeze, drown, or fly. I became an aunt to a beautiful niece, who just narrowly escaped being a leap year baby, and I'm pretty excited about her arrival. My Kindle Touch was finally lost to the ravages of time but was replaced swiftly with a Kindle Paperwhite. Top Ten Books I Was Assigned to Read in School

Today's Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by ThatArtsyReaderGirl , is all about Books I Was Assigned to Read in School. I've been a lifelong avid reader, but I was always that student that once a story was assigned, I was unlikely to want to read it. Like accidental reverse psychology, I can count on one hand the number of books assigned that I actually liked... three of which made today's list. 1. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck - I've read 2 Steinbeck novels, this one, and The Red Pony  and I hated them both. I don't get the fascination with him. 2. Animal Farm by George Orwell - This is about communist pigs, if you like that sort of thing which I didn't. 3. The Outsiders by SE Hinton - I know a lot of people absolutely love this book, I'm just not one of them. 4. The Yearling by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings - I was too young to be reading a story this upsetting. 5. Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls - This was also upsetting. 6.
