The Sunday Post

Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving (assuming you celebrated it).

The Sunday Post is a news meme hosted by TheCaffeinatedReviewer. I will be posting on the first Sunday of each month and I hope you'll join me.

I thought the weather in November was relatively mild for the season. The one disappointment was that when it was sunny it was also cold and windy but when it was warm we had rain. But now that its December the temperature is plunging fast.

I read three books in November:

I did manage to find time to resume the book blog memes I participate in, and it's nice to be back connecting with the community. Everyone posts unique answers to the prompts, it's always so fun to read the answers.

I haven't read a horror novel all year, so I picked up a copy of Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak. So far, it's about a live-in babysitter and a little boy who likes to draw; the book has inserts of the kid's drawings and some of them are a little disturbing... I'm only 50 pages in but I assume something happens connected to the drawings or they wouldn't be in there.

As the end of the year quickly approaches, I'm reflecting on this year and planning my next reading year. I intend to increase my number-of-books-to-read on my Goodreads challenge since I've surpassed the goal of 12 books two years in a row. And since this year I took part in the final year of the Pick Your Poison Challenge, I've got my ear to the ground for another reading challenge to participate in. I'm also working on my posts for April 2026 A-Z Blogging Challenge (I assume the event will be taking place again). The early writing sessions are either good preparedness or a sign of my neuroticness (not sure that's a real word) but there you go.

How was your November? Are you planning for any reading or blogging challenges next year?

  1. Already planning A to Z! I have a hard enough time posting occasionally without doing extra to get ahead. I'm impressed.

    1. Yeah, I'm doing bookish discussions this year instead of posting book reviews so I want to make sure I'l have time to get to all the letters.

  2. well 1984 could be considered a horror book, if you think of what could happen.
Yes, already organizing my 2026 reading year!
It will be rather similar to what I did in 2025: https://wordsandpeace.com/2025/01/07/2025-reading-plans-and-challenges/

  3. My November was my lowest reading month this year. I have read all 3 books you read in November. 1984 was about 40 years ago though. The Midnight Library was with COYER Book Club and it was not what I expected but I liked it in the end.

  4. Our November was really warm---it was in the 80s almost every day.

Feel free to add your link to Sunday Salon, too, if you want!

  5. I need to start planning for next year - it will probably be a TBR challenge to read books I own... the bookshelves are chaotic right now. I have heard great things about Hidden Pictures - I hope you like it. [it is one of the ones on my TBR shelf - lol]

  6. My plan for next year is no reading challenges (except Goodreads), and less ARCs. We'll see if I manage both of those, LOL!
