The Sunday Post
Happy Sunday! I hope you are all having a great weekend!
The Sunday Post is a weekly news meme created by the Caffeinated Reviewer. I'll be posting on the first Sunday of each month and I'll hope you'll join me.
Spring is going to bleed seamlessly into Summer in my neck of the woods, jumping in temps from 40 degrees to 80... and I sense the summer is going to be a hot one (that's climate change for you) so I'll take extra enjoyment in cool summer nights out by the firepit.
Yesterday I went for my once-a-year gambling excursion. Every year I try my luck, betting the Kentucky Derby. The secret is I have no luck. Whatever horse I pick usually comes in last. This year I picked up two Win, Place or Show tickets... One for Sandman and the other for Luxor Cafe. I'm the curse they never saw coming. Sandman wound up in 7th, Luxor Cafe 12th.
In the month of April, I competed in the A-Z Challenge and completed it. Yay me! If you are interested in what books I posted about, I will be posting a masterlist... I had hoped to have it posted for today and linked into this post, but my internet connection has not been cooperating this week.
I want to give a special shout out to the following bloggers for visiting my posts so often:
I enjoyed reading each and every one of your comments and reading the content on your blogs.
The month-long blog hop kept me pretty busy and the overtime I've been working sucked up the majority share of the rest of my time, so I only finished one book in the month of April: The Land of Lost Things by John Connolly. The review for that book will be posted tomorrow. I did have time to start Circe by Madeline Miller and I might even have time to finish it this month.
I've started stocking my flower garden despite the warning signs posted in the nursery warning that late frosts are still possible. I decided to roll the dice on that. Time will tell whether or not that was wise.
That's about it from my neck of the woods, what about yours?
I am finishing up the challenge now since I didn't post when I was on vacation at the end of April. I thoroughly enjoyed you book reviews and found them helpful. I think we're drawn to different kinds of books, but you reviewed a couple that I've put on my list, and I've shared others with my husband. It was good to get to know you during the Challenge.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a good vacation! I'm glad you enjoyed my reviews, I don't know why I had so many dark books this year, I usually do a better job at mixing it up.
DeleteI bet the Kentucky Derby is a lot of fun. I’ve never been. I need to get some flowers in my pots. We are putting our house on the market soon, and I will be trying for some curb appeal.
ReplyDeleteI am expecting it to be a hot summer in my part of the world too. I am enjoying the rain today though. I'll take it while I can get it! Congratulations on completing the A-Z Challenge! I've considered doing something like that, but it's not a goal I've put in motion yet. Maybe someday. I hope you have a good week!
