The Sunday Post
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
The Sunday Post is a weekly news meme hosted by TheCaffienatedReviewer. I'll be posting on the first Sunday of each month and I hope you'll join me.
The weather in August was delightful. It was sunny and hot but not too hot. The nights were getting cooler signaling the end of summer, even though I'm not ready for it to end. And as much as I like October weather, I'm hoping September brings a few more hot days before we have to break out the windbreakers.
I'm sorry to say this is probably my most boring Sunday Post ever. I've had a lot to be preoccupied by in the month of August and have not had time to post a darn thing. My blog was inactive for a whole month, and the number of books I finished is 0. In July I started The Book of Night by Holly Black and it's wound up paused at the halfway point for the month of August. I did just finish it though, I sped through it in the first week of September. I'm hoping my life settles soon and I can resume reading and blogging on a more regular schedule.
At the end of June, I learned that the barn where I keep my horse was closing. We'd been there ten years so that was heartbreaking for me; the other boarders became like family to me and it feels a bit like I'm losing them. But if change is happening, I like to get it over with all at once, so I spent July scouting out new barns until I found one I thought could accommodate us. It wasn't easy; most places in the area were full with waitlists. But perseverance and panic paid off: I found one.
Last week we made the move. No, she was not happy when the trailer pulled away, leaving her behind. She’s a bit temperamental and I fully expected a total meltdown. But I guess I’d built it all up in my head because she was tense on her walk to her new paddock but not unreasonably so. She paced around in circles but she didn’t call out. She settled into her stall quickly and midway through the week she was calm enough that I took her for a ride.
So happy that your horse has settled into her new digs. I know you feel a lot better now that the move has been successfully done.
ReplyDeletei know its cliche but it really is like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.
